Ecco una piccola notizia che mi ero dimenticato di rilanciare nelle scorse settimane: dopo un breve periodo presso il Boston Consulting Group la Flournoy, già Sottosegretario alla Difesa, rientra al Center for a New American Security, il think tank che ha contribuito a creare nel 2007. In effetti la Flournoy era rimasta al CNAS come co-chair del board of directors ma a breve dovrebbe assumere l’incarico di CEO. Scrive Foreign Policy:

Flournoy herself has long been rumored to become the first female secretary of defense. Her transition from the private sector world, where she holds a senior post at the Boston Consulting Group, to CNAS, immediately raises questions about her interest in snagging that job for the twilight years of the Obama administration or the first ones of a prospective White House led by Hillary Clinton, whom she backed for the presidency in 2008.

Da evidenziare che furono proprio la Flournoy e Kurt Campbell (anch’egli proveniente dal CNAS) i principali promotori del c.d. “Pivot Asia” all’interno dell’Amministrazione Obama.
