Puntuale, ogni anno, agli inizi di febbraio l’Intelligence di Washington presenta la propria analisi sulle minacce globali agli interessi statunitensi. Un documento interessante sia per cogliere le percezioni dell’intelligence americana che per acquisire informazioni strategiche.
Quella che segue è la versione pubblica del Worldwide Threat Assessment 2012 diffusa oggi da James Clapper.

Allora, questa testimonianza parla di un sacco di cose inutili: Terrorismo, Iran, Corea del Nord, Global Challenges, bla-bla-bla, quando finalmente, ad un certo punto, qualcosa di REALMENTE interessante “Cyber Threats: An Evolving and Strategic Concern”… :)))
Nel merito, Clapper ci ricorda che “among state actors, China and Russia are of particular concern. As indicated in the October 2011 biennial economic espionage report from the National Counterintelligence Executive, entities within these countries are responsible for extensive illicit intrusions into US computer networks and theft of US intellectual property” e che “Russia and China are aggressive and successful purveyors of economic espionage against the United States. Iran’s intelligence operations against the United States, including cyber capabilities, have dramatically increased in recent years in depth and complexity. We assess that FIS from these three countries will remain the top threats to the United States in the coming years.”
Di grande interesse, infine, i due “strategic challenges” che si porranno in futuro all’attenzione del DNI, ovvero: “(1) the difficulty of providing timely, actionable warning of cyber threats and incidents, such as identifying past or present security breaches, definitively attributing them, and accurately distinguishing between cyber espionage intrusions and potentially disruptive cyber attacks; and (2) the highly complex vulnerabilities associated with the IT supply chain for US networks. In both cases, US Government engagement with private sector owners and operators of critical infrastructures is essential for mitigating these threats.”

Sì, l’ho letto un paio di giorni fa ed ho ricavato la tua stessa sensazione.
A parte quel giudizio sull’Iran e sulle sue possibili intenzioni di colpire nel territorio statunitense (notizia che ha avuto vasta eco sulla stampa generalista) direi che non c’è nulla di sostanzialmente nuovo
